When Trippy Lips came to us with their idea for a new hemp and CBD line of lip products we were excited to take up the challenge to create an entirely new brand that could stand up to the competition in this newly saturated market.

Challenge

While creating the persona for Trippy Lips we had to take into consideration that these beauty products were going to be sold mainly at concerts. Defining this niche demographic presented some challenges, however, we realized that we could bridge the gap between this diverse group of individuals with their shared love of nostalgia. Giving Trippy Lips a name and feel heavily inspired by some of the first music festivals to be experienced and enjoyed.

Logo Design

We took a lot of care in creating the hand-drawn logo mark for Trippy Lips. Because of the different packaging sizes and shapes, we decided to design a responsive mark that worked as a landscape and portrait oriented logo. 

In our original renders here you can see we played around with reversing the name but ultimately found that it made perfect sense to have trippy describe the lips — not the other way around.

Stacked

Trippy Lips can be stacked to fit into a square or circular space making it easy to place and play with.

Horizontal

When used on a long lip balm tube or a lip gloss packaging the horizontal version of this logo comes in quite handy to fit the space proportionally.

Iconic

This sassy symbol plays well with the logos but can also hold it’s own when used as a separate icon or design element.

Expanding the Brand

After putting the initial branding strategy into place and creating the launch materials our job doesn’t stop there. Our relationship with Trippy Lips still continues and we’ve got way more in the works. Be on the lookout for new flavorful campaigns!
